Томас Александр Хансен: Будь собой!

Thomas Aleksander Hansen: Be yourself — That’s the best you can do!

It goes without saying that Mr Gay Europe pageant is drawing more and more attention with every year. So in lieu of the event taking place in Geneva this October, gay blog sunshine.by has decided to interview all of the contestants.

Today it is Thomas Alexander Hansen, representing Norway. Thomas is 21, he is a dancer in Sortland and a Capricorn *like myself!).

Thomas, is you were to describe yourself in one phrase, what would you say:

Up Continuous, open minded and a joy spreader.

What lead you to participate in beauty pageant?

Well, I do not think of Mr. Gay as a beauty contest, but more like a ranking of a model. A person who dares to show off for people who dare to stand for what it believes and which may be a good diplomat for Mr.Gay Europe. Which to me is not about how you look, but what you have inside.

What did you feel and have you made any resolutions when you have learned that you are to represent Norway in this year Mr. Gay Europe pageant?

The fact that i did win Mr.Gay Norway 2010 is something about the largest that has happened to me. It has been fantastic. I am unable to travel to Geneva due to relocation of the dates, which I believe is on the verge of unprofessional conduct. It was very sad when I discovered that I could travel, having planned and worked on preparations for a long time…

Do you feel any support from your homeland? Any kind of support – state or otherwise?

Yes absolutely! Both family, friends and colleagues have commented on this in a positive sense. People are very committed and often ask how it is planning for example. Local press has also shown great interest.

As one of its stages Mr. Gay Europe includes a talent contest: what are your plans in that respect?

It had of course been to dance. I had made a complete choreography that tells a little about myself. As a kind of representation of myself, but also being able to demonstrate good mastery of dance technique.

Now to the personal stuff: are you single?

No, im not. Im toghether with a guy from Trondheim.

Norway has granted same-sex families the same right – so you approve of the gay community strive to adopt same legislation across the world?

I believe everyone should have the same rights, no matter what country they live in. I think it’s a shame that in 2010, we cannot respect other people for what they are. But in Norway we have come a long way in this fight, unfortunately it is not like that in every country …

Do you plan to raise any children?

Not with the first. I will wait until I am a little older. Since I work as a professional dancer, there is a lot of traveling, so I wait until I got a job that is a little more A4 if you understand.

It is still not permitted in Norway for gay couples to adopt.

What would be the first thing you do if you win the crown?

Well, the first would be to call home to the family, hehe. After that I had wanted to plan a trip to Russia, to give a lecture there for the various organizations there, to tell them how we in Norway have come so far in the fight for gays …

And finally, what is your message to your fellow contestants?

Stand up. Be yourself. That’s the best you can do. Have faith in yourself, do not give up!
